What’s Next? Where is Your Agency Heading?

The reality is that you’re in highly competitive space and it’s not getting any easier. If you don’t make some strategic moves soon, it may be too late. We all know how challenging the business is – whether it’s clients, staff, resources, etc. – whether it’s by delivering current engagements profitably or developing new business.

What you must do is analyze where you are now; determine where you want to be; and build the strategic plan to get there.

What’s your vision? Where do you desire to be? Can you project the future – by projecting revenue/expense and by looking at historical metrics? What resources do you have (positive/negative)?

The quick question is, are you a generalist or a specialist? What makes you special? For most I recommend narrowing your focus to create differentiation! Focus on a specific market/industry or skill set (domain expertise) that clearly positions you – sets you apart.

This is how I help. I work with agencies to develop that positioning then executing/implementing on the brand promise. It may be People (recruitment, retention, professional development, incentives), Customers (account planning, lead generation, thought leadership, relevancy), Operations (resource planning, project profitability, utilization), or Finance (models that inform decisions) that lead to your success. Unfortunately, there is no silver bullet, or quick fix that is a rainmaker. BUT, a solid Strategic Plan with the right accountability will lead to success – WINNING!
